Italian cyclist Filippo Ganna (INEOS) won this Friday, February 20, the third stage of the Volta ao Algarve, a 19.5 kilometer individual time trial, in Vilamoura, while Spaniard Juan Ayuso (Lidl-Trek) reinforced the lead.
Ganna, Olympic runner-up in the time trial title, won for the first time in the Algarve, completing the course in 21.53 minutes, beating Ayuso, second, by six seconds, and Swede Jakob Soderqvist (Lidl-Trek), third, by eight.
Overall, Ayuso, who started the race with the same time as Paul Seixas (Decathlon), now totaled 8:32.43 hours, continuing to be seconded by the Frenchman, now seven seconds behind, and by João Almeida, third, at 44, after being 10th in the time trial, at 43.
The fourth stage of the Volta ao Algarve, which takes place on Saturday, starting in Albufeira and arriving in Lagos, after covering 175.1 kilometers.
