Around 62% of Portuguese people use generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) tools, a percentage that is above the European average, according to the study “European Consumer Gen AI Sentiment & Behavior”, by Bain & Company.

This is one of the main conclusions of the report that analyzed the adoption levels of artificial intelligence (AI) in Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, France and Germany in the last quarter of 2025.

In the comparative study “among five of the main digital ecosystems, Portugal stands out in the adoption of Gen AI, with 62% of users stating that they use these tools regularly, a figure higher than the European average (52%)”.

Generative AI has the ability to create content.

Another finding is that the adoption of Gen AI tools for personal use in Europe has “increased significantly over the past two years, with around 68% of respondents saying they have used or currently use” the technology.

In the Portuguese case, “the percentage of users has skyrocketed in the last four years and the value increased from 6% to 62%, reflecting a rapid adoption of these technologies”.
