Bullet marks were visible today in at least one of the houses located opposite the park, and one of the children who was not seriously injured had bullet fragments in his back, French news agency AFP found at the scene.
Mothers who live near the park say they heard several shots fired on Tuesday at around 9:30 pm, at a time when many children were playing in the games area.
“I was washing my daughter when we heard about twenty [disparos]”, said a mother who asked not to be identified.
When he left the house to see what had happened, he said he heard women shouting “there are children here”. Like one of her neighbors, she says it’s not uncommon for gang members to gather at this park.
“With this one, there are already four” shootings, explained another neighbor who also requested anonymity.
Many children were present in the park at the time of the shooting. “It was really horrible to see all these children running in all directions,” this woman added.
