Return to the Algarve. Paul Seixas wins the second stage and Juan Ayuso is the new leader

French cyclist Paul Seixas (Decathlon) won this Thursday, February 19, the second stage of the 52nd edition of the Volta ao Algarve, while Spanish cyclist Juan Ayuso (Lidl-Trek), second, took the lead in the individual overall.

Seixas completed the 147.2 kilometers, between Portimão and Alto da Fóia, in 3:49.50 hours, ahead of Spaniard Juan Ayuso, second, with the same time, and Portuguese João Almeida (UAE Emirates), third, one second behind.

Overall, Ayuso, who succeeds Frenchman Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step) in the lead, and Seixas both total 8:10.44 hours, with João Almeida completing the podium, seven seconds behind.

The third stage of the Volta ao Algarve, which takes place on Friday, is an individual time trial, starting and finishing in Vilamoura, a distance of 19.5 kilometers.
