GNR dismantled organized drug trafficking network and detained 20 people

The GNR, with the cooperation of the Spanish Guardia Civil, dismantled on Wednesday an organized drug trafficking network with international ramifications and detained 20 people in the municipalities of Mafra, Sintra, in the district of Lisbon, and in Setúbal.

As part of an investigation that lasted around two years and during a mega police operation, the National Republican Guard (GNR) arrested three women and 17 men, aged between 20 and 55 years.

Today, in a statement, the GNR indicates that during the course of the operation, 14 arrest warrants were carried out outside of the act of committing a crime, including a European arrest warrant executed by the Spanish authorities, namely the Guardia Civil, and six men were also detained in the act of committing a crime.

According to the GNR, during the course of the action, 21 home search warrants and 17 non-domestic search warrants were also executed, of which four were carried out in Spanish territory (three home and one non-domestic), culminating in the seizure of various material.

116,509 portions of hashish, 440 of marijuana, 5,597 of cocaine, 41 MDMA pills, 2.4 grams of ketamine, R$95,000 in cash, 141 ammunition of various calibers, 39 cell phones and 10 precision scales were seized.

Also seized were 10 vehicles, seven bladed weapons, five CCTV cameras, four firearms, two compressed air guns, two electric weapons, a box of pyrotechnic items (firecrackers), a money counting machine and various articles of gold and precious stones.

The guard says that over the course of two years of investigation, it was also possible to seize and recover 389,140 doses of hashish, 95,600 doses of MDMA powder and around 16,400 tablets, 320 doses of cannabis, 1,050 doses of Pink Cocaine (2C-B), 161 doses of cocaine, 299 LSD stamps and 3,920 euros in cash.

14 high-end vehicles, a firearm, six cell phones and a GPS tracker were also seized.

The detainees, all with criminal records, will be presented to the Sintra Judicial Court (Lisbon) for the application of coercive measures.
