Alentejo residents can expect a gala with pomp and circumstance, but also events that aim to “bring gastronomy, cuisine, culture to the streets, to the squares of Évora, to the squares of Évora”. This is what the president of the Alentejo Regional Tourism Promotion Agency, José Manuel Santos, says about the organization of this year’s Gala Guia Repsol in Portugal, which will take place on April 13th at Teatro Garcia de Resende.
The announcement of Évora as host of the event was made during the Guia gala that took place in Tarragona, Spain. According to José Manuel Santos, the gala “aims to project Évora even further as a gastronomic reference on an Iberian and international level”, along with “a set of initiatives that will be promoted in partnership between us and the City Council”.
Without anticipating details of the program, the person responsible for Alentejo Tourism says that “there is a great concern” to guarantee “an event that is experienced by the local community, that is experienced by the cooks, by the chefs, by the people who are working every day in the tourism economy, in the city’s restaurant economy”.
However, José Manuel Santos also admits that the agency will work to promote the city and the event in the Spanish market, “through our communication channels in Madrid”, this being “the most important external market in the Alentejo, as is normal, due to its proximity. We will sell the gala in Spain as a major gastronomic event, which will be, in fact, fortunately the Alentejo will have many important events in 2026, not just the Repsol gala”.
