Jesse Jackson, icon of the struggle for civil rights in the USA, dies

He was one of the main figures in the fight against racism and racial inequality in the United States, especially from the 1960s onwards, having worked closely with Martin Luther King. The news of Jesse Jackson’s death, aged 84, was given this Tuesday, February 17th, by his family. “He passed away peacefully today surrounded by his family,” said the family of the pastor born in 1941 in South Carolina, in a statement cited by the Lusa news agency.
