Hillary Clinton accuses Trump administration of ‘covering up’ Epstein files

Hillary Clinton accused the government led by Donald Trump of a “cover-up” in relation to the way it handled the files relating to the Epstein case.

“Disclose the files. They are delaying”said the former American Secretary of State and former presidential candidate for BBC in Berlin, where he participated in the annual World Forum.

The White House insists that by releasing the files it did “more for the victims than Democrats ever did.”

Asked whether the former Prince Andrew should testify before a Congressional committee, Hillary Clinton said that “everyone who is called to testify must do so”, although the presence of the former member of the British royal family in the case does not indicate any irregularity.

The commission does not have the power to force him to appear, but it pressured the Clinton couple to do so, something that was accepted. Bill will be heard on February 27, in what will be the first time a former US president has testified before a Congressional panel since Gerald Ford (1983), and Hillary the day before.

Hillary reiterated the couple’s request for the hearings to be public, rather than behind closed doors. “We will attend, but we think it would be better if it were public,” he said.

Hillary defended the couple’s “delay” in responding to the commission, with her Republican chairman, James Comer, saying the Clintons “caved in” as a contempt vote loomed.

“I just want it to be fair. I want everyone to be treated the same. We have nothing to hide. We have repeatedly called for full disclosure of these files. We believe transparency is the best disinfectant”emphasized Hillary, who argued that she and her husband were being used to divert attention from Trump.

“Look at this smokescreen. We’re going to have the Clintons, even Hillary Clinton, who never met the guy [Jeffrey Epstein]”he added. Bill Clinton, whose name appears in the files, knew Epstein, but said he cut off contact with him two decades ago.

Neither Clinton has been accused of wrongdoing by victims of Epstein’s abuse, and both have denied knowledge of his sexual crimes at the time.
