A automobile production fell 7.8% in Januaryin a period greatly affected by the bad weather that aggressively affected several companies in the sector.
The data was revealed by ACAP, this Monday, February 16th.
By comparison with the numbers recorded in the same month of 2026, the numbers indicate a significant drop, as 21,746 cars were produced in national factories. The negative trend is visible with greater impact on passenger cars.
15,649 cars of that type were produced, which means a decrease of 10.9%. At the level of light goodsHowever, January brought a increase of 5.2% for 5,907 cars.
At the same time, the number of heavy vehicles produced fell by 51.8% up to 190 vehicles.
Germany continues to lead exports
A Europe continues to be the destination for the vast majority of exports of cars produced in the national territory, with a weight of 88.2%.
The German market maintains its first position as it received almost one in every five cars (19.9%) in January. This is followed by France (17.1%), Italy (16.0%) and Spain (10.1%).
Vehicle assembly speeds up
Also in January, automobile assembly increased by 75%, as 14 heavy vehicles left the factories. They all went to foreign markets, having been divided equally between Germany and the United Kingdom.
