Vanina Guerillot makes history in the Giant Slalom in Milan-Cortina 2026

The Portuguese Vanina Guerillot signed this Sunday (15) one of the best participations ever in national alpine skiing by reaching 41st place in the Giant Slalom race of the Winter Olympics Milan Cortina 2026establishing the best Portuguese female classification in the discipline. At 23 years old, the athlete improved the result obtained in Beijing 2022, where she had been 43rd, confirming the competitive evolution she has been showing in recent years and simultaneously becoming the first Portuguese woman to compete in two editions of the Winter Olympic Games.

On a demanding and technically challenging route, 76 skiers participated, but only 54 managed to complete both legs. Guerillot finished with a total time of 2.25.56, 12.06 seconds behind the winner, the Italian Federica Brignonewho won gold with 2.13.50 and added this title to the one already achieved in the Super-G.

The silver medal was shared by the Swede Sara Hector and the Norwegian Thea Louise Stjernesundboth with 2.14,12.
