“We have noted with deep indignation that the Mexican president commits blatant lies by denying or minimizing Mexico’s role as a recipient of Venezuelans deported from the United States, presenting the country as a ‘humanitarian’ destination or of safe transitwhen the reality is total abandonment“, held.
Veppex denounced that the United States expels Venezuelans to Mexico, where the Government does not grant them no type of immigration documentsuch as refuge, asylum, humanitarian visa, or temporary residence permit, which contrasts with the president’s promises to welcome migrants who wish to stay in the country.
Migrants in absolute irregular condition
Venezuelans “are left in an absolutely irregular condition, without legal access to work, public health or safe internal mobility,” according to the group.

Accident in the Caribbean Sea
As an example, they cited an accident last Tuesday in which a boat with 16 migrants, mostly Venezuelans who had been stranded in Mexico, capsized in the Panamanian Caribbean, where two Venezuelans and a Colombian died.
For this reason, Veppex denounced that these actions and omissions violate the principles of non-refoulement and protection of refugees of the 1951 Convention and the 1967 Protocol, of which Mexico is a signatory.
“President (Claudia) Sheinbaum has prioritized political interests and immigration with the United States above the life and dignity of thousands of Venezuelans who seek salvation,” he said.
Offered humanitarian assistance
The Mexican president has insisted since the beginning of the Donald Trump’s second presidencyin January 2025, which will not sign an agreement to be a “safe third country” or receive migrants of other nationalities, but has stated that if they arrive deported from other countries there will be humanitarian assistance.
