The situation in Coimbra, with a risk of centuries-old flooding, was stable overnight, although the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) recorded several incidents related to rain and strong wind in the Region.
“The situations recorded in Coimbra were not serious. Alerts and vigilance are maintained due to the flows”, he said, adding that the situations were mainly floods, falling trees and structures.
Because of adverse weather conditions, 13 people had to be moved overnight in the municipalities of Sobral de Monte Agraço, in the district of Lisbon, and Ponte de Lima, in the district of Viana do Castelo.
Due to a landslide in Costa da Costa, in the parish of Refoios do Lima, municipality of Ponte de Lima, three people, who were not injured, were removed from their home.
“These people went to another house they have in the parish,” he said.
In the town of Pé do Monte, in the municipality of Sobral de Monte Agraço, in the district of Lisbon, four people were evacuated due to a landslide, which caused no injuries.
Still in the municipality of Sobral de Monte Agraço, another six people also had to be evacuated in Casal da Barqueira due to the risk of flooding, and they were taken to a rural tourism structure.
According to José Costa, between 0am and 7am, 92 incidents related to bad weather were recorded, the majority in the Central region with 39 and Lisbon and Tagus Valley with 37.
“Among the most relevant occurrences, which did not cause victims, we have 33 tree falls, 23 floods, 14 structure falls and 13 mass movements”, he indicated.
The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) warned on Thursday of a worsening of weather conditions, which could have a significant impact on the Greater Lisbon region and the Setúbal Peninsula.
