The Central Administrative Court of the South (TCAS) accepted FC Porto’s precautionary measure to suspend the punishment of footballer William Gomes, who could play against Nacional on Sunday, a Porto source confirmed to Lusa this Friday, February 13.
In the 20th round match, against Casa Pia, which marked Porto’s first defeat in the championship (2-1), the winger violently hit David Sousa with his foot raised, immediately seeing a red card, in the 79th minute.
The Disciplinary Council (CD) of the Portuguese Football Federation punished the player with a two-game suspension, the first already served in the draw against Sporting (1-1), last Monday.
FC Porto had appealed to the CD, which only partially relented, reducing the fine from 1,224 to 918 euros, maintaining the two games in suspension.
However, the ‘blue and whites’ also went to the Sports Arbitration Court (TAD) and obtained a precautionary measure from TCAS, which allows the player to be used in Madeira, in the match related to the 22nd round of the I League.
Currently, the ‘dragons’ lead the championship, with 56 points, having maintained a four-point advantage over second-placed Sporting, after the two rivals drew in the last round.
