While in Europe there has been a succession of dismissals and investigations of prominent figures related to the Epstein case, in the United States the revelation of over three million files on the sex offender continues without causing any political casualties, despite the evident friendly relationship with President Donald Trump and the growing contradictions between what Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick says and what the documents show. This Friday, February 13, Reuters reported that Mehmet Oz, appointed by Trump administrator of the United States Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, sent by e-mail an invitation to Epstein to a Valentine’s Day party in 2016.
The email, dated February 1, 2016, has the subject line “Mehmet and Liza Oz’s Valentine’s Day Celebration” and contains a link to a digital invitation. According to Reuters, Mehmet Oz — who became known as Dr. Oz thanks to the controversial medical television show he hosted for more than a decade — appears most frequently in the files, including an email sent from an account in his name to Epstein on Jan. 1, 2016, with the subject “Dr. Oz.” However, the body of the message is completely censored.
These interactions occurred after Epstein’s first conviction in 2008 for soliciting a child for prostitution and soliciting the services of a prostitute.
The Department of Health and Human Services, the body led by Robert Kennedy Jr. and which oversees Oz’s portfolio, did not respond to a Reuters request for comment.
