16 Finalist Projects at TEC Maia

This Friday, February 13th, the 2nd edition of Level UP by the CN Incubator will take place, an initiative promoted by Colégio Novo da Maia and the recently opened Colégio Novo de Gaia, which takes on the format of a “shark tank”, placing young entrepreneurship at the center of school activity. TEC Maia hosts the public presentation and evaluation, by a jury, of 16 finalist projects, selected from more than a hundred ideas developed by students from both institutions.

According to the organization, the course that culminates in the event seeks to consolidate “a training approach oriented towards innovation, the creation of value and the development of skills” considered crucial to competitiveness, including critical thinking, collaborative work, adaptability, autonomy, communication and entrepreneurial spirit. Regardless of the final result, the schools emphasize that the projects make a relevant contribution to the academic path and to the personal and civic development of students.

The initiative is presented as an active learning platform, in which students take on the role of protagonists, test solutions, defend proposals and receive feedback from experts, judges and partners in the ecosystem undertaken.r.

David Pinto, Director of Colégio Novo da Maia and Colégio Novo de Gaia, states that “Level UP is proof that when we trust our young people and give them the right tools, they respond with ideas, vision and courage”adding that the project seeks to demonstrate that “school can and should be a space where the future is built, with critical thinking, creativity and a sense of responsibility”.

Marina Pinto, Pedagogical Director of the two institutions, states that “each project developed is a real exercise in citizenship and innovation” and that, “regardless of the prizes, all students leave this journey more prepared to face challenges, communicate their ideas and believe in their potential”.

The event will be attended by Susana Neto, councilor of the Maia City Council, in a participation that, according to the organization, reinforces the municipality’s commitment to education, innovation and the appreciation of young talent.

The 2nd edition of Level UP by the CN Incubator has the support of Maia City Council, Junior Achievement Portugal, Católica Porto Business School, LEYA, Porto Innovation Hub and the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, partners indicated as strategic in promoting a “sustained and impactful” entrepreneurial culture.
