Urgent and Effective Recovery of Affected Areas

The person responsible for the Mission Structure for the Recovery of Areas Affected by the Depression Kristin defended this Wednesday, February 11, the need to do it “urgently and well” and assured that there was a desire to make the territory more resilient.

“We have to do it urgently and well, It’s no longer just quick and well, it’s urgent and well, we have no other solution”, said Paulo Fernandes, in Leiria, in a session to present and clarify support measures for companies affected by the Kristin depression, where representatives from various entities were present.

In his intervention, Paulo Fernandes assured that “the word mission is to be taken seriously” and it is a collective work.

“If all [as missões] they usually are, this is not even an option that is not very collective. It really has to be collective, it really has to be multilevel and it has to be, obviously, transversal to all areas of the State, but also to all areas of company life”, he said.

To those present, the person responsible for the mission structure, an entity that is based in the Intermunicipal Community of the Leiria Region, highlighted that reconstruction “is a continuous, very demanding process”, and admitted that “there are no perfect measures, but there is enough humility and capacity” to mediate with concrete reality.

Whereas, unfortunately, the situation is still “very far from being stabilized” from the point of view of damagewhich “continues and deepens”, Paulo Fernandes highlighted that “this interface is vital, to then make the interconnection with decision-making or guardianship structures, in order to find an answer or solution.

“And if it can be quick and, above all, very effective, the better”, he added, ensuring that in the mission structure there is also “a collective will and with everyone to build a revitalization program” that makes the territory more resilient.

For Paulo Fernandes, former president of the Chamber of Fundão (Castelo Branco), “no one would accept that after this [impacto da depressão]” not if you started thinking about the medium and long term.

“So that this would never have these effects again and this region would also become stronger, more competitive” in the future, he added.
