Shooting at school in Canada leaves several dead and injured

At least 10 people died and more than 25 were injured after a shooting happened this Tuesday at the secondary school of Tumbler Ridgea small community in northeastern British Columbia, authorities reported Canada.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) noted that eight of the victims, including the alleged aggressor, were located inside the campus. Two other people were found dead in a home that would be linked to the same incident. Of the injured, at least two have serious injuries and were taken by helicopter to hospitals in the region.

The attack sparked an emergency alert around the school after active shooters were reported at the school. The authorities ordered the population to shelter in place in their homes, keep doors closed and avoid any movement in the area.

According to police, a person believed to be the perpetrator of the attack was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted wound. However, officers continue to investigate whether a second suspect is involved.

The school district Peace River South confirmed the confinement of both the secondary and primary schools of Tumbler Ridgewhich together serve a small student community. According to official data, the secondary school has about 175 students between seventh and twelfth grade.
