PS considers that the minister’s resignation is proof that the Government failed to respond to the storm

The Prime Minister will temporarily assume the powers that belonged to the Minister of Internal Administration, when the dismissal of Maria Lúcia Amaral, announced this Tuesday, becomes effective, the first “casualty” of the second Government led by Luís Montenegro.

The Minister of Internal Administration, Maria Lúcia Amaral, resigned and the President of the Republic accepted it, according to an official note released this Tuesday night.

The statement explains that it will be the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, who “will temporarily assume the respective responsibilities”, as soon as the dismissal becomes effective.

This is the first resignation of the XXV PSD/CDS-PP Government led by Luís Montenegro, just over eight months after taking office, on June 5, 2025.
