Unlike Bloco de Esquerda and PAN, Livre does not ask for the resignation of the Minister of Internal Administration, Maria Lúcia Amaral. Still, the critical tone is high and will dominate the party’s intervention in the fortnightly debate with the prime minister this Wednesday. “We understand that the minister must make a deep reflection on whether to continue. The Prime Minister must reflect too. However, responsibility cannot be attributed solely to the minister. There is a huge inability to perceive the tragedy at hand. In view of what was being communicated, from the difficulty of services, to the lack of civil protection intervention capacity, there will be a lot of criticism of the Government, as a whole. The minister cannot be a scapegoat”, says Livre deputy Paulo Muacho.
The parliamentarian extends his criticism to many portfolios. “It was quite insensitivity from the Minister of Economy [Castro Almeida] say that people had to cope with last month’s salary, unfortunately the Prime Minister also communicated poorly, Leitão Amaro [ministro da Presidência] had a promotional instinct afterwards“, he explains, without wanting to elaborate on possible replacements in the Executive.
It is worth remembering that Livre presented proposals to provide greater preparation for responses to emergencies (see more here).
He added that for the fortnightly debate Livre should also prioritize Health, emphasizing that “defending the National Health Service is a priority” and that “there is information that shows that the path the Government is following will not improve it.”
