It should be remembered that, from the age of 50, teachers benefit from reductions in the teaching component — two hours from the age of 50, four from the age of 55 and eight from the age of 60 —, no longer ensuring full 22-hour teaching hours. These hours, explains MEP, are replaced by other tasks at school. In the case of teachers without professional qualifications, there is also an additional reduction of four hours for professionalization purposes.

MEP therefore questions “how many full timetables are effectively ensured through this competition and how many timetables without a teacher could result from it, adding to those already existing”.

The movement also raises issues related to justice in the teaching career. “At a time when Parliament is discussing the correction of overtaking, the CEE allows teachers – including some without professional qualifications – to overtake others who have been in the system for years”, guarantees the movement.

Previous analyzes of the movement had already indicated that around 10% of CEE vacancies remained unfilled (161 out of 1800), that 43% of linked candidates do not have training in teaching (697 out of 1639) and that, in subjects subject to final tests and national exams, such as Portuguese (66%) and Mathematics (57%), the majority of those placed do not have professional qualifications.
