1. Cleaning
In the summer of 1999, asesino Francisco Jorge Stanley Albaitero moved to the country. A comedian known as “Paco Stanley” was interviewed by a section of the Mexican audience. Never mind that now no one explains whether he was truly charismatic or a thoughtful product of television or any of those things, and it doesn’t matter: thousands of people instantly repeat his phrases that misogyny, racism, classification or public humiliation should have gone away because they “were part of it”.
A lecturer, an outspoken PRI propagandist, Stanley spanned decades between news, entertainment and theater, always supported Television. In 1998 he started Aztec TV to get a copy of what was on the road in Canal de las Estrellas. No God’s time. On June 7, 1999, a mataron was held. He was 56 years old.
Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, who was a presidential candidate against Carlos Salinas de Gortari in 1988, was the Jefe de Gobierno of the Federal District. Television y Aztec TV they put them all together. Colleagues of Stanley Stanley were arrested for allegedly collaborating in the crime. Mario Bezares was arrested on July 22, 1999. He suffered from drugs, crimes, abuse and infidelity. But the televisions did not stop, on the contrary: they extended the war of praise until the following year, in the presidential contest in 2000, with the help of business newspapers, radio and other televisions. Recognized for all media – exceptional cases – and without an answer, Cardenas had to apply for a license to compete with Vicente Fox and Francisco Labastida. Here in third place. The cases of the izquierda lost the federal circuit. The young and emerging leader of the Redista team, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, won by a small margin: 37.70 per 100 votes against 33.40 for Santiago Creel. Capital cases are in the hands of PAN, y Television y Aztec TV Even before they were born, they were trying to figure out the social project that rules Mexico today.
With “provincial flavor” – as the magic words say –; no corruption; López Obrador, a middle class akin to the economic, political, intellectual, media or academic elites, has taken to running the city and all those who liken them to the enthusiastic media power, and surprisingly, it taught him a big lesson. In the by-elections of 2003, instead of degasstars “for the natural exercise of power”, as in the whole previous decade, the PRD won 37 out of 40 mayoral elections and there were only three to the PAN. Of the delegations now called, 13 painted amarillo and panic was quedó with two and PRI with one. It was a tremendous battle. AMLO catapulted himself. And so all the forces of the Mexican men rushed against him.
The following is a familiar history. Prior to the 2006 electoral fraud, the PRI and PAN split into the IFE and the de facto farms were organized around television, radio and businesses; around Carlos Salinas de Gortari, Diego Fernández de Ceballos, Elba Esther Gordillo and other such human escoria; they supported corporate and media groups, intellectuals and academics, and between them all they prepared the mother of all campaigns against a single individual from the South: López Obrador.
It bothered her that she grew up in misery, that she was a child, that she was not a member of the elite. But what bothers them the most is that they don’t settle down in front of them. Never if it’s an arrodillo. Entonces tried to mutilate piernas.

They surrounded López Obrador with money and fake rivers. They injected hatred and division. They launched multi-million dollar campaigns involving many of those active today. And above all, most importantly, they concentrated on trying to reach AMLO. They threw so many accusations at her that it was impossible to answer them all. They intended to compete and they abolished the right of reply, the right to compete, the right to disagree, the right to reply, to suggest, to reckon with part of the story.
Wait until they send him into exile.
And he goes, a forlorn-looking man who looks alone, going to towns and ranches with two pesos in his bag. And there he goes, sometimes alone, to come to the most hidden depths and sleep in the most degraded cats.
And from there, from below, a movement began to form with a single, simple and noble principle: for the good of all, first for the poor. And from there, below, look for the roots – thank you, Mario Benedetti – “and from where memory does not remember”.

2. Return
The story of López Obrador’s comeback has been told from many different angles, with very competent and searching sources. The 2018 triumph was shocking. And I believe it was an even more shocking triumph of 2024 because the peaceful transition was achieved by a larger number of votes. Izquierda built a robust movement and even more socially. I ask the first woman, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, in the presidency. And the future of the lopezobrador movement is clear: once the people of Mexico are convinced, the izquierda will follow the power. For this reason, for the good of all, always the poor first.
Publicly celebrated the past week, which the president will decorate with moraines of the entire country. Below, ladies and gentlemen, this is work. From there, a movement was born from below, and its leaders have a duty not to hide in the bases, because they were protected by the twisted roar of power through the love of the people, everything, absolutely everything that they are, will sell them below. That is why I call it “the return”, because I believe that the izquierda must always return to the people, to the roots; must know the terrain at the right level. Yes, if it’s high tide, if everyone’s swimming.
And if you can’t imagine the consequences, think: what will happen the day Ricardo Salinas Pliego or Claudio X. González hold them in their hands? Reflected on cards and much more, entertained and sometimes by this viewer and on television; reflected in AMLO’s bitter years; between teachers and students, persecuted and imprisoned for what we now call “la fachiza”. The reverse side is a lobe that fell in love with fresh meat: each of our children, like a cachorro that separates from the meat, remains alive.
AMLO knows that no one has anything to lose, including the best. Claudia knows it. The idea and thought in his sentence: with the whole community, without the community nothing. Because the backside doesn’t disappear. Here it would be difficult to divide, engage, chat and then meet everyone wondering. So they’ve always done it, for generations.
Something absurd, even stupid, that someone distances himself from the leg. Here, down in the roots, where memory remembers no omission, is gratitude, love, faithfulness, faithfulness, nobility. Solidarity. Keeping it all to embrace the elite is a heartfelt gift. No salary. See the pyramid: it is narrow enough: just punch and they are so ready that they have lost their values. Never forget that.
3. Victoria
Great powers, emanations of popular power and among elites, have contested the fate of Mexico for at least two centuries. It is a war of conscience, before the vote. This is called the “culture battle”. It covers many aspects and affects the same identity of people, governments. It’s not just about political hegemony: it’s about controlling national justice. On the other hand, you don’t care about bases, but you know that maintaining them guarantees access to power; izquierda comes from there, from the grassroots, and there the same is rooted in power.
In recent years, Mexico has undergone a profound transformation of its faith. The legend of López Obrador was experienced by thousands of people at the time when he exhibited at Salinas Pliego, and the ferocity of the prudent sectors that were used to never return him, with the tip of the mind and eulogies, those who would be tempted to question him.
The right had all the power. It’s a bad time. And for a short time, if God knows very late that the movement that has formed down there is looking for roots, developing above all in the conciencias: he has freed them.
Recently, as some know, I have been the victim of a smear campaign of my own. He no longer has any lejos. Everything that I am and that I have is transparent. Don’t ask anyone how much you’ll accumulate: it’s actually not much. This is not the first time I have been attacked by health, although this time it was two televisions and their satellites. They paid for big bots, they threw trolls at me. Money comes from the smallest cores of our society. But the solidarity of a large part of my colleagues saved me and the people saved me. Miles and miles matched the detractors. I’m here with you, with everyone. And my companion is at a loss: I cannot find it out for a second. Never again. They will follow because they are corrupted and will be delighted to meet someone like them on this side. It will be a solid wall.
Let me make it clear without embargo: it’s not necessarily against me. It’s the mayor’s dispute. What we want is to spray on wine, on anger, on anger and goodness, some of us pay. What they have is power withdrawal syndrome and they want someone else to pay for it. I quote verbatim the message sent to me by the director of one media: “I also think that they are about us, that is the greatest strength of this party of counter-hegemonic journalism, for greater progress in the political project of the country. These are dark times and toca acuerparnos, querido. Because they are coming for everyone.” Yes, they come for all of us where we come from. Not just in the office.

They will throw the black bull of a thousand tones at me and you will defend me with the most effective recourse: you. That’s what I’m asking. That’s what always saves people like me. I’m cut, I’m a stone wall: I’ll see, yes, I care. But I don’t blame myself.
