The President-elect, António José Seguro, spent the morning of Monday, February 9, on the phone with several mayors to find out about the situation on the ground and the recovery process, following the latest events.
Seguro spoke with the presidents of the Municipal Chambers of Alcácer do Sal, Montemor-o-Velho, Pombal, Golegã, Leiria and Arruda dos Vinhosas well as with the President of the Parish Council of Ereira (Montemor-o-Velho)a location that remains without land access.
During the contacts, the President-elect also became aware of another death in the municipality of Leiria, bringing the number of fatalities to 16. António José Seguro expressed his regret and sent his condolences to the victim’s family.
Working from his residence, in Caldas da Rainha, Seguro continues this afternoon, February 9, to the Palácio de Belém, where he is scheduled to meet with the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
