WASHINGTON.- The president Donald Trump shared a racist video of former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama.
In the video, which was available on his official account at Truth Social – social platform of your own company Trump Media & Technology Group – for almost twelve hours, the former presidential couple is represented as apes in a jungle.
Faced with citizen indignation, and representatives of both national parties, Republican y Democratwas finally eliminated.
Trump outrages by sharing racist video of Barak and Michelle Obama
Trump once again caused controversy by sharing racist content on his social network Truth Social, now directed at the former Democratic president Barack Obamaand his wife, the former first lady, Michelle Obama.
In the video, the Obamas’ faces were superimposed on the bodies of two apes, dancing, with the jungle in the background.
The publication, now deleted, alluded to alleged electoral fraud in the 2020 elections – which Trump lost -, and the Obamas appear at the beginning of the video, with the song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” (inspired by the African theme Mbube of Solomon Linda).
The full video, available on other unofficial user accounts, shows several American politicians, all opponents, as different animals and Trump as a lion.
Within the Republican bench, to which he belongs Trumpthe video also caused outrage.
Tim Scott, the only African-American Republican in the Senatedescribed the publication as “the most racist thing I have seen in this White House”: “I pray it’s fake [….] the president must eliminate him”, he wrote in X.
Mike Lawleralso a Republican, said the post – at the time still available – was “incorrect and incredibly offensive, whether intentional or a mistake, and should be removed immediately with an apology.”
An official told CNN that the video was posted by a staff member of the White House“by mistake”, but that “has already been deleted”, this almost 12 hours after being uploaded.
“Disgusting behavior from the president. All Republicans should denounce it. Now”, expressed the office of the governor of California, Gavin Newsom.
White House minimizes the video and the reactions
In a statement, the White House press secretary, Caroline Leavittcalled the reaction to the video “feigned outrage.”
“It is It’s an internet meme video which represents President Trump as the King of the Jungle and the Democrats as characters from ‘The Lion King’. Please, put aside the feigned indignation and report on something that really matters to the American public”.
This incident of racism from the White House joins other similar incidents that occurred in Trump’s second term in the Presidency, and it is not the first against Obama either, reported CNN.
Last year he posted a video apparently generated by artificial intelligence (IA) that showed Obama being arrested in the Oficina Oval.
Months later, Trump and officials shared digitally manipulated photos and videos of Hakeem JeffriesAfrican American legislator and minority leader in the House of Representatives.
He appeared with a fake mustache and a Mexican hat, which the Democrat described as racist.
