The Porto Court of Appeal decided to reduce by five months the effective prison sentence imposed on Fernando Madureira, former leader of the SuperDragões, who will now have to serve three years and four months.
The appeal presented by the former Porto cheerleader sought acquittal or, at least, suspension of the execution of the sentence.
A news is advanced by JNwhich states that the court dropped one of the crimes of bodily harm, which was proven in the first instance, and which also allowed the sentences of the other defendants in Operation Praetorian to have also been reduced by around three months, and in this context Fábio Sousa was acquitted of all crimes.
It should be noted that the Public Ministry and FC Porto had also filed an appeal against the decision in the first instance, requesting nine years in prison for Fernando Madureira and the application of effective prison sentences to the wife of the former SuperDragões leader, Sandra Madureira, and other defendants. Furthermore, he had asked for the conviction of Fernando Saul, a former liaison officer with Dragons supporters. However, none of these claims were met by the court.
