The Portuguese Red Cross intensified its intervention in the areas affected by the latest storms thanks to a wide range of support from the private sector and private donations.
Business contributions have reinforced logistical capacity and the distribution of essential goods, essential for welcoming and assisting displaced families.
Among the partners who responded to the call are the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation — which financed around three thousand tarpaulins, a logistics vehicle and handling and cleaning equipment — and the Ageas Foundation, which allowed the purchase of approximately 1,250 tarpaulins.
Galp ensures the supply of fuel to Red Cross vehicles and Missão Continente provided essential goods to support temporary shelter.
Several companies provided operational resources and material: Santogal and Fly Rent‑a‑Car provided vehicles; Auchan, Bricomarché, Worten and Zurich delivered equipment and support items; Brisa, FNAC, Darty, Zurich Foundation, Amazon, BP, Central de Cervejas, CGITI Portugal, Coverflex, Cork Supply Portugal SA, Deloitte, Driscoll’s, Fujitsu, Glovo, Procter & Gamble Portugal and Tabaqueira also joined the solidarity mobilization with donations and fundraising campaigns.
The Red Cross states that these contributions made it possible to accelerate interventions, maintain the mobility of teams and guarantee the supply of essential goods.
The institution ensures that it maintains active operations in coordination with civil protection authorities and centralizes support through its platform to ensure transparency and quick targeting of resources to the most urgent needs.
