A 35-year-old woman is missing after throwing herself into the Turvilla River, in the municipality of Sayalonga, in Malaga, to try to save his dog during Storm Leonardo, which has affected Portugal and Spain and is already considered one of the most severe in Andalusia in recent years.
The incident was recorded, according to the Guardia Civil, on Wednesday afternoon, when the victim was walking along the banks of the river, the dog fell into the river and the woman immediately jumped to try to save it, ending up being swept away by the strong current. It was another woman who alerted the authorities, who immediately activated emergency services.
The dog was however found alive, but so far there is no sign of the 35-year-old woman, which is why the search continues, in which firefighters, the Guardia Civil, local police officers and some volunteers participate.
Operations are, however, being greatly hampered by rising water levels, large quantities of mud dragged by the current and unstable terrain.
