An online crowdfunding was launched so that the Brazilian woman’s body Lorraine Motta can be taken to Brazil. The immigrant, who lived in Portugal for ten years, was known for having traveled the territory and other countries by bicycle and seen as a symbol of female freedom.
Lóris, as she was known, was 30 years old and was the victim of a rare and aggressive cancer. The disease hit her hard and took her away in less than a year. With the death of the young woman, the family came from Brazil to take care of the legal procedures. Therefore, the collection was created.
The cyclist was known for being a kind and adventurous person. “More than kilometers covered, Lorene collected encounters. In each city, town or road, I left and received affection, shared stories and created bonds. The bicycle was her means, but her real journey was human”, highlights the statement released by her friends.

Before leaving this plan, the Brazilian left a farewell message, especially aimed at women. “A message of courage, autonomy and love for life, even in the face of adversity — a final gesture of generosity that reflects who she always was”, they highlight.
The friends want to continue celebrating the Brazilian’s legacy. “Lorene Motta leaves too soon, but leaves an immense legacy: that of living with intensity, crossing borders with an open heart and proving that freedom is also built with affection. Her story will continue to inspire female travelers, cyclists and all those who believe that the world is better when lived with courage and sensitivity.”
