HAVANA.- The United States Embassy in Cuba issued a security alert addressed to its citizens due to the deterioration of the electrical system, the fuel shortage and the increased political tensions on the island.
However, at the same time, the Cuban government denied that there is a formal negotiation table with Washington, which deepens the uncertainty about the future of Cuba.
US Embassy warns of energy crisis
The Embassy warned that the national electrical network in Cuba shows a progressive deterioration, so blackouts happen daily both scheduled and unexpected.
In addition, these cuts affect essential services such as water supply, refrigeration, lighting and telecommunications.
Likewise, fuel shortages complicate public and private transportation, which generates long lines at service stations.
Although some hotels, hospitals and businesses operate with generators, their operation could be interrupted due to lack of fuel.
For this reason, the embassy recommended that its citizens stay informed through official Cuban sources, conserve food, water and energy on mobile devices. As well as prepare for prolonged interruptions in basic services.
He also warned that there have been cases in which American citizens have faced restrictions on entering the island.

Cuba denies formal negotiation with the US
Meanwhile, the vice minister of Foreign Relations of CubaCarlos Fernández de Cossio, rejected that there is a process of bilateral negotiation with Washington. Although he acknowledged that both governments have exchanged diplomatic messages recently.
