Presidential candidate António José Seguro asked this Wednesday, February 4, if Portugal would accept living “five years of turbulence” and opposition from Belém against the prime minister, as he says his opponent André Ventura would do, accusing him of wanting to “change the regime”.
At a campaign lunch in Castro Verde, district of Beja, Seguro returned to the idea that “it has never been so easy to identify what separates the two candidates” who are competing in the second round, have two profiles and two completely different political paths.
“And the question I ask you is very clear. Does the country agree to have a path and live five years of turmoil, division, sowing hatred, pitting the Portuguese against each other, of opposing the Prime Minister from Belém? Is this what the Portuguese want?”he asked.
On the contrary, Seguro promises to be “a President who unites, aggregates, moderates, dialogues”.
“A President who does not shy away from problems, faces them head on, but finds solutions in the rules of democracy to address everyone, particularly the Government, demanding results in order to find the best answers so that the Portuguese can have a better life”pointed.
The presidential candidate supported by the PS warned that this “is not a fable” and warned of the risks he considers his opponent to pose in the second round of the presidential elections.
“While we want to change the regime, my opponent wants to change the regime and we will not allow regime change because we love our regime and the way we live in it”, he warned.
Seguro asked the audience if they wanted to take that risk and, as he didn’t hear the answer to the first one, he insisted on asking the question.
“Could it be a little louder? Very well, I heard perfectly. So what is the best way to avoid this risk? It really is insurance against risk”, he said.
