The Conference of leaders that took place this Wednesday (February 4) at the Assembly of the Republic scheduled the next month of work in Parliament. The big highlight is the setting of the date for the discussion regarding the social mobility subsidy. The PS is against the measure that advanced in Parliament in January and will discuss and vote on that day a parliamentary assessment to revoke the document. Currently, the PS is against the imposition of the mandatory absence of debts to the tax authorities and Social Security and also questions the values attributed themselves. The DN knows that it is possible that the socialists will try to prove the unconstitutionality of the bill.
At the Leaders’ Conference, two plenary sessions were scheduled, on the 19th and 20th of February. The plenary on February 19th will be dedicated to political declarations from the various parties and, on the 20th, In addition to the Government’s diplomas on domestic violence, which amend the Penal Code and regulate legal costs, Chega’s initiatives on the use of firearms by security forces will be debated.
On February 26, the plenary will evaluate a PS diploma related to the so-called “social beds” in hospitals, another from IL to change the Code of Tax Procedure for Administrative Courts and also initiatives from Livre to prevent and prepare the country for catastrophes such as the Kristin depression, which caused ten deaths in Portugal. This same proposal was reported this Tuesday by DN and affects emergency kits and disaster funds (you can read it here).
For the same plenary, a PCP project on pension supplements for military and security forces is also scheduled, another from the CDS-PP on pediatric palliative care and another from BE related to blood donations.
Debate on the 27th will have Minister of State Reform
A sectoral debate was also scheduled with the Deputy Minister of State Reform, Gonçalo Matias, for the 27th. In this case, justification for bureaucracy processes in support of those affected by Kristin will be on the table, but also items related to decentralization and distribution of powers across municipalities.
The PSD parliamentary group formally announced the postponement of the parliamentary days, which were scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. Hugo Soares, leader of the bench, justified the decision “due to the moment the country is going through in terms of bad weather.”
