Greenvolt Group has secured €58.5 million project financing from Erste Group Bank AG and Banca Comercială Română (BCR) for a 49.8 MW onshore wind farm in Săcele, Dobruja, scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2026.
The financing is intended to support the construction of the wind farm, whose work is already underway, and which, once in operation, will increase the renewable energy production capacity of the Romanian electrical system, contributing to the country’s energy security and decarbonization.
João Manso Neto, CEO of the Greenvolt Group, to justify the investment, highlights that “Central and Eastern Europe, and Romania in particular, continue to be strategic markets for Greenvolt, where we continue to execute and deliver high quality projects, with a clear and tangible impact on the energy transition”.
Do lado financier, Ladislav Tolmáči, Head of Desk Project Finance from Erste Group Bank, states that “by financing this project, Erste Group continues to reinforce its commitment to the development and strengthening of renewable energy infrastructures in Romania”.
Manuela Trisnevschi, Head of Energy and Utilities of BCR, adds that “this financing is fully aligned with BCR’s strategy of supporting sustainable investment and the energy transition in Romania”.
Adrian Góralski, Director of M&A and Project Finance of Greenvolt Power, highlights the relevance of the banking partnership for the execution, highlighting that “working with Erste Group Bank AG and Banca Comercială Română in this operation allowed us to structure a financing solution aligned with the risk profile and development phase of this project.”
The project is part of the Group’s expansion strategy in Central and Eastern Europe. In its portfolio in Romania, Greenvolt points out a pipeline utility‑scale of 555 MW in wind energy, 77 MW in solar and 156 MW in battery storage, in addition to distributed generation activities for business and industrial customers.
