Ventura considers Castro Almeida’s statements “harmful” and criticizes Marcelo’s trip to the Vatican

André Ventura fired at the Government and President of the Republic regarding the way they have managed the effects of Storm Kristin and called for prevention work to be carried out regarding the passage of the Leonardo Depression across the country.

“As a new wave of bad weather approaches, I hope that all the powers of the State will do what they did not do before, work to prevent the catastrophe. We have had statements that only embarrass the Portuguese State. Yesterday a minister of Territorial Cohesion said that the affected Portuguese people should use last month’s salary. These statements are harmful. It is an insult to people, by a minister who knows what the average salary is in Portugal, especially in the affected areas. The Minister of Internal Affairs said she does not know that there is a plan of civil protection and that we are all learning. It is not too much to ask for statements like these to be stopped.”said the presidential candidate supported by Chega in Torres Vedras, on the sidelines of a visit to Carmo & Silvério, one of the companies affected by Storm Kristin.

Ventura also spoke about the exemption from tolls on sections of the A8, A17, A14 and A19 for a week to criticize the delay in implementing the measure. “Finally, the State has done what I have been asking for for three days, which is to exempt this catastrophe area from tolls. We are talking about areas where people are traveling to take food and repair electrical poles. Does it make any sense for these people to pay tolls?”, asked the leader of Chega, who assured that “as long as there are tragedies of this type”, he will “do nothing other than be alongside people” and say what he thinks.
