National Commander of Civil Protection was absent from the country for training during a sequence of storms

The national commander of Civil Protection was absent from the country in the middle of the recent sequence of storms for a training session in Brussels authorized by the National Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), according to Saturday.

Mário Silvestre traveled to the capital of Belgium on January 26th, after storm Ingrid, in the middle of Joseph and before Kristin as part of the National Defense Auditor course at the National Defense Institute.

The president of ANEPC, José Manuel Moura, gave approval to the national commander to leave. “The trip was authorized by the president of ANEPC, since, at the date of departure, there was no information regarding Kristin’s depression, of which we were only formally informed on January 26th, at 9:30 pm, with confirmation on January 27th”an official source explained to the magazine.

Mário Silvestre left the country at 7:00 am on the 26th and returned at 8:00 pm on the 28th, “having resumed his duties at that time”. During his absence, he was the 2nd National Commander to assume duties on a replacement basis.
