Marcelo and Montenegro will meet again on Thursday to analyze what is expected to be a difficult day

The Prime Minister announced this Tuesday, February 3, that he will meet again with the President of the Republic next Thursday to analyze the country’s situation at that time, highlighting that the next few days present “great challenges” in terms of weather conditions.

In a statement to journalists, at the Belém Palace, after being received by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Luís Montenegro left the warning that, from the point of view of meteorological developments, the country is “facing a week that presents a great challenge”.

“For this very reason, I agreed with the President of the Republic to return here [Palácio de Belém] next Thursday – a day that is also expected to be difficult – so that we can assess the incidences precisely on that occasion. Also so that we can make a forecast even closer to the weekend, in particular Sunday, which is a day on which it is also predictable, from the point of view of rain, that there may be problems in terms of floods or floods”, declared the leader of the executive.

The Prime Minister also stated that the President of the Republic will be able to witness this Tuesday and Wednesday, on the ground, the effort being made to quickly restore normality in the areas affected by Depression Kristin.

“The President of the Republic will also go, today and tomorrow [quarta-feira]be on visits, accompanied by members of the Government. You will also be able to see precisely the effort that everyone is making, central administration departments, local authorities, social institutions, companies and many citizens individually and voluntarily”, he maintained.

According to the Prime Minister, “the greatest possible effort is being made to quickly return normality to people’s lives, particularly those who are experiencing major problems in their daily dynamics and routines, such as not yet having access to electricity or water supply, or not yet having their communications normalized”.
