Leiria Starts ‘Solidarity Roof’ Operation for Roof Repair

The Leiria Chamber launched this Tuesday the operation “Solidarity Roof”, initiative especially aimed at qualified technicians and companies with the aim of repairing roofs, with the guarantee of accommodation for participants who are not from the municipality.

“After the campaign to distribute plastic sheets for immediate protection of roofs and the campaign to collect tiles, the Municipality is now launching Operation ‘Solidarity Roof’, an initiative that aims to hire companies and mobilize entities and municipalities with the capacity to provide qualified technical teams to repair affected roofs”.

In a press release, the Chamber assured that the objective “is to ensure the placement of tiles or temporary protective solutions, such as tarpaulins, in the homes of people who, due to their age, physical condition or lack of technical means, do not have the capacity to carry out work of this nature, which involves risk and requires specialization”.

The municipality called for “the collaboration of companies in the construction and rehabilitation sector, entities with trained technical teams, local authorities and other entities that can provide human resources for this solidarity effort”.

“For teams traveling from outside the municipality of Leiria, the Municipality will provide accommodation, in order to facilitate a rapid, effective and coordinated response”.

Participating entities “must have the capacity to act autonomously, having their own human and material resources necessary for the intervention”.
