“Effective immediately, we are deploying body cameras on all officers in the field in Minneapolis,” Noem said on X.
He added that “as funding becomes available, the body camera program will expand nationwide.”
Three days after the shutdown, Democrats in the House of Representatives They want changes in the way the DHS carries out its immigration raids (with heavily armed, masked and unidentified agents who sometimes detain people without warrants) before voting on a spending package.
Body cameras are part of their demands, as are a ban on masks and a requirement to obtain warrants before making arrests and detentions.
