A hospital in Toulouse, in the south of France, treated a man with a projectile lodged in his rectum over the weekend, in an operation that required the mobilization of a team of bomb squads.

A member of the healthcare staff, who asked to remain anonymousconfirmed to AFP the information published in the local newspaper La Dépêche du Midi.

The events occurred on the night of Saturday to Sunday. The 24-year-old man told Rangueil hospital staff that an object had been inserted into the rectumexplains the newspaper.
In the operating room, according to the local newspaper, the medical team discovered that they had to extract a “collection shell almost 20 centimeters”.
Members of the medical team “discovered it and called a bomb disposal team,” the hospital employee told AFP.
The emergency services indicated that firefighters were sent “to guarantee fire protection during the intervention” of the bomb squad.
“An explosive device has been neutralized,” they added, without giving further details.
The spokesperson for the local fire brigade and hospital service told AFP that they had no additional information on the matter.
