Banco de Fomento is not “perfectly in tune” with the control requirements of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), said the president of the plan’s Audit Committee, pointing out communication failures.
“They are not perfectly in tune with the demands of control”, said the president of the PRR Audit and Control Committee, António Ferreira dos Santos, in a parliamentary hearing at the Economy and Territorial Cohesion committee.
Ferreira dos Santos explained that this body has made requests to Banco Português de Fomento that take time to respond, similar to what happens with those formulated by the Agency for Development and Cohesion (AD&C).
The Audit and Control Committee thus highlighted some difficulties in communicating with the bank, reiterating that it is not properly adapted to respond to control.
“With persistence and resilience we are trying to obtain these answers to ensure that our work is being done well”, he concluded.
Banco Português de Fomento, which is headquartered in Porto, is dedicated to creating and providing solutions for companies to increase their entrepreneurial capacity, investment and job creation.
The PRR, which has an execution period until 2026, intends to implement a set of reforms and investments with a view to recovering economic growth.
In addition to having the objective of repairing the damage caused by covid-19, this plan aims to support investments and generate jobs.
