Valuing moderation in presidential elections

Defending civic coexistence based on urbanity, unity and respect for those who served the country, Leonor Beleza claims to exercise her freedom, as she has done over the last 50 years, publicly declaring her intention to vote and confirming that, on February 8, she will vote for António José Seguro.

“In the second round of the presidential elections, the candidate I wanted will not be there.

But there is a candidate that I support unreservedly: anyone who knows me knows that he is the moderate candidate, and not the radical.

I appreciate moderation, I hate radicalism.

I appreciate those who value the Portuguese, and don’t accuse them of not knowing how to choose their representatives for 50 years, since we’ve had that freedom.

I appreciate those who respect us, but not those who despise and condemn all those who serve our country.

I appreciate anyone who wants to unite us, help us face challenges and difficulties together. Not who divides us into pure and impure, into good and evil, into saints and sinners. And, by the way, he believes that the majority are impure, bad and sinful.

I appreciate those who assert themselves with urbanity, discuss in a civilized way, do not insult, and not those who think they need to be rude, to despise their opponents, to accuse the majority of Portuguese people of not knowing how to choose their representatives.

I will exercise my freedom on February 8th, just as I have exercised it over these 50 years. I exercise my freedom today by publicly saying how I intend to participate in the election of the President of the Republic.
