Trump threatens to sue Trevor Noah after Epstein joke at Grammys

The target of several jokes and protests during the Grammy Awards ceremony, Donald Trump did not like a particular comment made by Trevor Noah, presenter of the 68th edition of the music awards, and threatened to take legal action against the South African comedian.

The gala, marked by the historic consecration of Bad Bunny – who won three awards, including Album of the Year, awarded for the first time to a work in Spanish – was also marked by Noah’s critical comments about Trump, at a time when the USA is under great social tension due to the actions of the ICE immigration policy. Which, in fact, motivated several protest interventions by the artists present at the gala.

After congratulating singer Billie Eilish on her victory in the Song of the Year category with “Wildflower”, Trevor Noah – who announced that this was his last participation as host of the Grammys after six consecutive editions – launched a succession of ironic comments about Donald Trump, which would come to motivate the North American president’s reaction.

“It’s a Grammy that all artists want… almost as much as Trump wants Greenland“, he said. But it was the next sentence that provoked the Republican’s ire, when Noah entered the universe of the Epstein files, adding that Trump’s obsession with the Arctic island “it makes sense why since Epstein died he needs a new island to spend time with Bill Clinton” – linking the current and former presidents to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Shortly after the end of the ceremony, Trump took to his social network Truth Social to attack the presenter and the Grammys themselves. “The Grammy awards are the WORST and practically impossible to watch,” he wrote, before denying any connection to Epstein’s island. “I can’t speak for Bill [Clinton]. I have never been on or near Epstein’s island, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statements, I have never been accused of it, not even by the fake news media,” he stated.

In a more aggressive tone, Trump called Trevor Noah a “total loser” and accused him of not checking the facts. “I’m going to send my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, incompetent presenter. Get ready, Noah, I’m going to have fun with you!”“, he wrote.

Noah’s comments at the Grammys came following the release of more than three million documents related to the Epstein case, which mention several powerful figures, including Trump, Bill Clinton, multimillionaires Elon Musk and Bill Gates and former Prince Andrew.
