Also highlighted was Daniela Camposwho finished in 8th place in the women’s elimination race. The Portuguese cyclist, current national champion of the discipline, significantly improved her performance compared to the opening day of the European Championship. The gold was won by Belgian Lotte Kopecky, followed by French Victoire Berteau and German Lea Lin Teutenberg.
The European Championship had started in a troubled way for Portugal. Yesterday Miguel Salgueiro ended up finishing in 11th place, in the elimination race, after suffering a fall in the final, a situation that left him under medical observation. The race was won by the Danish Tobias Hansen.
Still at the start of the competition, Daniela Campos was ranked 18th in the women’s Scratch, in a race dominated by Belgian Helene Hesters.
Portuguese participation continues this Tuesday, with Daniela Campos registered in the women’s Omnium and a representative in the men’s Scratch, in a competition that runs until Thursday and brings together the elite of European track cycling.
