The number of reported collective redundancies increased by around 11% in 2025, compared to the same period last year, totaling 552, and it is necessary to go back to 2020 to find such a high figure, when it reached 698, according to data released this Monday, February 2, by DGERT.
Between January and December 2025, there were 552 collective redundancies reported, which represents an increase of 11.07% compared to the 497 recorded in the entire year 2024, according to monthly data from the Directorate-General for Employment and Labor Relations (DGERT).
The number of collective layoffs reported by companies has been increasing consecutively since 2023 and the value reached until December last year is the highest since 2020, a period marked by the covid-19 pandemic.
