Sporting beats Nacional with a goal from Suárez in stoppage time and gets closer to FC Porto

This Sunday (February 1), Sporting placed themselves provisionally four points behind leaders FC Porto, after beating Nacional 2-1 at home, in a match on matchday 20, for their third consecutive victory in stoppage time in all competitions.

The Colombian Luis Suárez sealed, in the 90th minute, the victory for the Lions, for his 18th goal in the competition, after the Paraguayan Alan Nuñez ‘cancelled’, in the 76th minute, the hosts’ first advantage, achieved with a goal from Pedro Gonçalves, in the 72nd.

Rui Borges’ team had already beaten Arouca (2-1 away), for the I Liga, and Athletic Bilbao (3-2 away), for the ‘Champions’, with goals in stoppage time, after Suárez sealed, in the 90th minute, the historic victory over Paris Saint-Germain (2-1).

In the classification, the ‘lions’, who visit Dragão in the next round, now have 51 points, against 55 for FC Porto, who face Casa Pia, in Rio Maior on Monday, while Nacional remained with 20, in the quartet that shares 11th place.
