This Sunday, February 1st, at the age of 22, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest tennis player to complete a career Grand Slam, after prevailing in the final of the Australian Open over Serbian Novak Djokovic in four sets.
The world number one beat the record holder for Grand Slam titles (24) and at Melbourne Park (10), who at 38 was looking to become the oldest player to win a ‘major’with partials of 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 and 7-5, in three hours and two minutes.
At 22 years old, and after winning his first title at the Australian Open against the fourth player in the world, Alcaraz becomes the youngest ever to complete the career Grand Slam, dethroning compatriot Rafael Nadal who was 24 years old when he achieved it.
The Murcian achieves his seventh ‘major’, after those achieved at Roland Garros (2024 and 2025), Wimbledon (2023 and 2024) and US Open (2022 and 2025).
