US reveals the rest of the Epstein file

The US Department of Justice announced this Friday (January 30) the release of over three million pages of documents, 180,000 images and 2,000 videos relating to the so-called “Epstein file”.

Pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, a friend of several influential and famous people, died in prison in 2019, while awaiting trial on charges of sexual abuse of underage girls.

US President Donald Trump himself was a friend of Epstein in the 1990s, and the relationship between them was severed months before the millionaire was convicted in 2008 in Florida (having received an agreement from the courts that was considered too lenient).

The documents were released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, a law enacted after months of public and political pressure, which requires the government to open its files on investigations into the millionaire. and his ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell (who was convicted as an accomplice to his sexual abuse).

“Today’s release marks the end of a very comprehensive document identification and review process to ensure transparency for the American people and compliance with the law,” Assistant Attorney General Todd Blanche said at a press conference.

The law called for all documents to be released by December 19, but authorities claimed that was impossible due to the volume of documents – even with the hundreds of lawyers who worked on this process.
