Monclova, Coahuila.– In an exciting and close opening match, the Nuevo León 12U team debuted with a tight defeat against its counterpart from Chihuahua in the FEMEBE National Baseball Championship, held this Monday on the Xochipilli Park field in Monclova.
The match kept attendees on the edge of their seats, with somersaults and key plays that defined a clash worthy of a national tournament. Nuevo León opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning thanks to a run scored by Emiliano Palomo. Later, after being down on the scoreboard by three runs, the Monterrey team showed courage and determination by coming back in the fifth inning, taking the lead again.
However, the Dorados de Chihuahua did not give up and responded in the top of the seventh inning with a pair of runs that ended up settling the final score at 6-5, despite the tireless efforts of the Nuevo León players, who left the potential tying run on the bases in their last at-bat.
On the mound, the performance of starter Axel “Capitán” Rodríguez stood out, who pitched four solid innings in which he allowed three runs, leaving without a decision. He was relieved by Iker Robledo in the final part of the match. On offense, Andrés Guajardo shone, going 2 for 3, scoring two runs and producing one more.
With this first presentation, the Nuevo León team will seek to recover this Tuesday when it faces the representative of Baja California Sur, in a crucial duel for its aspirations within the national tournament.
The FEMEBE National Championship brings together the best youth talents in the country, and this week Monclova becomes the epicenter of Mexican children’s baseball, with a dedicated fan base and great promises on the diamond.
