Luís Simões Maintains Distribution Despite Damage to Vehicles

Kristin’s depression left its mark on the group Luís Simões (LS), one of the largest logistics operators in the Iberian Peninsula. The storm hit the Portuguese group’s Coimbra Region Supply Market operations center but, despite the difficulties, LS “has been working 100% since the first minute to restore normal operations”reveals the carrier’s official source to DN.

According to it, the operations center in Coimbra recorded “a small number of vehicles damaged by flying structures or fallen trees”. At the moment, the group is “surveying and repairing damage”. LS drivers “are safe and well”, he emphasizes.

The group confirmed that It is in the areas from Coimbra to Leiria that there are more constraints on transport. There is “very limited or even blocked access, examples of which are the road cuts on the A1 and A13” and in the Leiria region there are “communication difficulties, which extend to loading and unloading points”.

Since yesterday, it has been “sending vehicles to Leiria” again. As he states, “we are helping our affected customers to start their industrial activity, and We continue to deliver consumer goods to the region, subject to clear roads and limited communication with vehicles/drivers”.

Nationally, distribution is also affected by Depression Kristin. As you say, there are a high number of incidents that are making operations difficult, namely roads that are closed or have limited circulation and the impossibility of unloading, due to recipients being closed or with limited operations.

The group claims to be in solidarity with the affected populations and available to be part of the solution. So far, it has not received relevant requests for help.
