Mexico City.- Israeli elements intercepted several ships that made up the flotilla called Global Sumudwhich was directed to Gaza with the aim of bringing humanitarian aid. There were at least seven Mexicans in the flotilla, as well as other renowned activists, such as Greta Thunberg, who was traveling on the boat Alma.

One of the members of Mexican origin, identified as Arlin Medranodenounced that she was taken against her will to Israeli territory: “Hello, my name is Arlin Medrano, I am Mexican and if you are watching this video it is because we were intercepted in international waters by the Israeli occupation and we have been taken without our consent to the territory of Israel,” she said in a video.

The rest of the Mexicans involved are Carlos Pérez Osorio, Ernesto Ledesma Arronte, Sol González Eguía, Laura Alejandra Veléz Ruiz Gaitán, Miriam Moreno Sánchez and Diego Vázquez Galindo.

The arrest occurred around 11:30 a.m., capital time, as updated by members of the independent international mission transporting aid to Gaza. The above is considered a violation of international law.

In addition, the action prevented the delivery of food supplies, which has continued since last March.

According to Israeli law, once passengers are detained, they may be deported 72 hours after the order is issued, unless the person voluntarily accepts their expulsion, as happened with the last boat intercepted by Israel last June, with 12 activists involved.
