Apple is working on a new product

NUEVA YORK (EFE).— Apple is launching a wearable pin with artificial intelligence (AI), equipped with cameras, microphones and a speaker, but without a panel, with the intention of capturing the user’s surroundings, according to a report obtained by “The Information” portal.

The publication says the shape of the new hardware is similar to an AirTag (a button-shaped tracking device) and will be “a thin, flat and circular disk with an aluminum and glass casing.”

Still, the company plans to launch it next year with an initial production of 20 million units.

Last week, Apple announced that it was partnering with Google later this year to boost its AI capabilities in products like Siri.

It wasn’t the first company to launch a wearable AI device, but startup Humane — which is working with Apple’s example — introduced a voice-controlled wearable artificial intelligence assistant called the AI Pin in 2024.

Critics

Retailing for $700, the device was heavily criticized for being slow, lacking in functionality, and prone to overheating.

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, also introduced an AI device after buying it last year from iOS Products, a hardware startup led by Jony Ive, a former Apple designer.
