Teenage girls among 27 rescued as police bust sinister sex trafficking ring after raiding clubs in holiday hotspot Brit

VULNERABLE teenage girls are among 27 women rescued from a human trafficking gang in the Canary Islands.

All 27 victims were rescued from being trafficked from South American countries, police say.

Several of the victims were under the age of 18, and at least one of them was under the age of 16.

POLICE investigation began in 2024 after the police received a tip about a couple in Santa Cruz de Tenerife running four nightclubs and allegedly controlling several women.

Traffickers targeted young women who had fallen into severe poverty and hired them on false promises of legitimate work.

It is believed that the victims were then taken to Spain where they were forced into debts of up to €3,000, which they were then forced to repay through sexual services.

The Canary Weekly they said the original deal was to work as dancers in strip clubs – but the reality inside the seedy places was different.

The pimps forced them to work long hours, pressured them to take drugs and in some cases even drugged them without their knowledge.

All the girls and women were locked in filth homes and were under the constant control of their traffickers.

Police arrested 14 people in the raids, including two suspected gang leaders.

The chain also allegedly committed credit card fraud on customers who were drunk or drugged in clubs.

Investigators confirmed allegations of fraud exceeding €70,000.

The operation targeted seven houses, three clubs and one administrative office in Tenerife.

As a result, €90,000 in cash was seized as well as a luxury vehicle, high-end watch and jewelryand mobile phones.

The case comes weeks after it emerged that paedo gangs based in the Canary Islands were smuggling vulnerable children to mainland Europe for sex work.

They target migrant children who are considered “easy prey” because they are often left unattended by overcrowded care agencies on the islands and cannot speak Spanish.

They are believed to have been smuggled out of a migrant reception center in Lanzarote’s capital, Arrecife, before being moved through the safe house system across mainland Spain and then to France.
